Wales & West Utilities has been named a Responsible Business Champion in this year’s Business in the Community (BITC) Responsible Business Awards.

The gas emergency and pipeline service has been given ‘champion’ status for demonstrating its full commitment to the responsible business agenda during times of extreme and testing change.

Each Champion exemplifies best practice that can motivate and inspire others whilst their work is more important than ever as businesses adjust to the new normal and work to build back better responsibly.

2020 has been a year like no other, and we’re delighted to be named as a Responsible Business Champion. We’ve focussed on keeping our customers safe, looking after the wellbeing of our colleagues and making sure we keep the gas flowing to heat homes and power businesses.

Our Safe and Warm Fund is also helping those working in communities, targeting support at those who need it most. From domestic abuse support units to volunteer transport services, the fund will go some way to helping organisations and local communities as they begin to recover from coronavirus.

One of the most optimistic elements of this pandemic has been seeing the way in which communities have pulled together to support one another, and we’re proud to have been part of that.
