Wales & West Utilities is starting a scheme which will see an investment of £270,000 in Swansea’s gas network.

The work, in the Mumbles Road area, has been coordinated with Swansea Council and will begin on 2 January. It will be completed in June, ahead of the busy tourism season. The work is essential and will help to keep the gas flowing safely to heat and power local homes and businesses long into the future.

Wales & West Utilities Adam Smith is managing the gas upgrade programme and said:

We have planned this project closely with Swansea Council to carry out work in the off-peak tourism season.

While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across Swansea. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.

This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport hydrogen and biomethane, so we can all play our part in a green future.
