Wales & West Utilities has been shortlisted as a finalist in two award categories in the prestigious Utility Week Awards 2023.
The gas emergency and pipeline service for Wales and the south west of England has beaten off stiff competition to be named a finalist in the Skills and Diversity Award, for its cultural change work by the internal HR team, whilst Net Zero Portfolio Manager, Henry James, has been shortlisted in the Rising Star of the Year category for his work in leading change in the industry as it works to reach Net Zero.
The awards saw more than 300 entries across 16 categories and the company is hoping to be named as a winner in the two categories at the awards ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on 5 December.
Rob Long, Wales & West Utilities Chief Operating Officer, said:
We’re delighted to have made the shortlist of these prestigious awards which recognise the positive and progressive efforts made by our business
Our teams and colleagues continue to work hard to operate the gas emergency service, connect new homes and businesses, and upgrade the gas network so it’s safe today and fit for the future. The recognition of the contribution by our HR team and Henry is testament to the quality of work that’s being delivered.
We’re very proud to be shortlisted and are excited for the event in December.
Utility Week editor and chair of the judges James Wallin said:
It was an honour to go through such a stellar selection of entries for this year’s awards, which showcased dedication and innovation in action across the sector and its supply chain.
It was particularly pleasing to see companies taking their responsibilities towards both customers and the environment so seriously.
It was a difficult task to separate out these excellent entries into our shortlist. The teams and individuals whose hard work fuelled these projects should be very proud.
I look forward to being able to reveal the winners on 5th December alongside our celebrity host.
