Bill Frost, Wales & West Utilities Senior Operation Manager for Gloucester said:
“We have been working in the Churchdown area of Gloucester to repair a leak on a gas pipe running beside the railway line.
"Our engineers have worked as safely and as quickly as they can and have now stopped the leak and made the area safe.
“To do this, we have had to turn the gas supply off to the local Chosen Hill School. The school relies on the gas network to provide cooking, hot water and heating facilities for its students, which initially caused delays to our work as we worked with the school to arrange alternative solutions.
“We are sorry for any disruption our work has caused and appreciate the patience and understanding of local residents, as we balanced the needs of the whole community who rely on a safe and reliable gas supply. Safety is always our top priority as we work to resolve the issue as quickly as possible for all.
"We would still encourage anyone who smells gas, thinks they have a gas leak, or suspects carbon monoxide poisoning to call us on 0800 111 999 and our engineers will be there to help, day or night."
