Wales & West Utilities will shortly begin work to upgrade gas pipes in the Albany Road area of Cardiff.
The work, which is essential to keep the gas flowing safely to heat and power local homes and businesses, is set to start on 27 March and will involve upgrading pipes on Crwys Road, City Road, Albany Road, Richmond Road and Mackintosh Place.
Wales & West Utilities has worked closely with Cardiff Council to plan the scheme and it has been agreed that this will be completed in stages to ease congestion in the area. Traffic management will be required throughout, which will involve both road closures and traffic lights, which will be manually controlled at peak times to manage the traffic flow. Wales & West Utilities will be liaising with local traders to inform them of the plans ahead of work starting.

While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across Cardiff. We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future. We’ll have a team of gas engineers on site throughout the project to make sure our work is completed as safely and as quickly as possible while keeping disruption to a minimum.
