Wales & West Utilities will be starting work to replace 30 old metal gas service pipes to homes on B4275 Park View Terrace in Abercwmboi with new, longer lasting plastic ones.

The work, which will be carried out by our contract partner Amec Foster Wheeler, will start on 22 March and we anticipate it will take around four weeks to complete.

This essential work is the first stage of a gas pipe investment programme that will make sure the area continues to receive a safe and reliable gas supply now and into the future.

Wales & West Utilities has worked closely with Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council in planning this work to keep disruption for residents and road users to a minimum. Two way traffic lights will be in place on B4275 Park View Terrace between the football ground and Abercwmboi Medical Centre.

We have written to residents on Park View Terrace asking them to park as safely and as considerately as possible while we are working.

Wales & West Utilities Programme Controller for Wales, Francis Kirk, said:

“We know the effect that this sort of work can have on communities, and we will have a team on site throughout the project to make sure that we get the job finished as safely and as quickly as possible to minimise disruption for local people and road users.

“This is the first stage of a gas pipe investment programme that we are planning for the area, essential to make sure homes and businesses continue to receive a safe and reliable gas supply now and into the future. We’re planning this work in detail, working closely with Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, and we’ll be writing to local people well in advance of future work letting them know what to expect.”
