Work to upgrade the gas network in the Dyfed Road area of Neath will shortly begin.
Wales & West Utilities will start the work to upgrade approximately 3 kilometres of gas pipes next week (8 April). The work is essential to keep the gas flowing safely and reliably to local homes and businesses, keeping people warm for generations to come, and barring any engineering difficulties, it will complete in May next year.
Wales & West Utilities has liaised with Neath Port Talbot Council to plan the work and it has
been agreed that traffic management will be in place throughout. Pipes will be upgraded on
Woodland Road, Beechwood Avenue, Dyfed Road, Cimla Road, Ena Avenue, Gnoll Park Road, Gnoll Avenue and Fairyland.
Wales & West Utilities Adam Smith is managing this gas pipe upgrade work and said:
We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future. We’ll have a team of gas engineers on site throughout the project to make sure our work is completed as safely and as quickly as possible while keeping disruption to a minimum.
While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across the Neath area.
