Wales & West Utilities is working on a £25,000 gas pipe investment scheme in the Little Mill area of Monmouthshire which will make sure that local homes and businesses continue to receive a safe and reliable gas supply to the area for years to come.

As part of the scheme, which starts on Monday and is due to take six weeks to complete, it is necessary for traffic management to be in place. This has been agreed with Monmouthshire County Council and will involve 3-way traffic lights at the junction of the A4042 and Berthon Road in Little Mill. These will be in place for the duration of the work.

As agreed with Monmouthshire County Council and South Wales Trunk Road Agency (SWTRA) the junction will also be closed for three weekends to enable the final connection work to be undertaken. Advance warnings will be in place for road users.

Wales & West Utilities Programme Controller for Wales, Francis Kirk, is managing the work and said:

“Our work in Little Mill is essential to keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.

“Having worked closely with Monmouthshire County Council to plan the safest way to complete the work, we hope the traffic lights will allow us to complete the scheme with minimal disruption so that we can complete as quickly as possible.

“Unfortunately, working in areas like this is never easy but we will work as quickly and as safely as possible to make sure that we get the job finished with minimal disruption for local people.”
