Due to further engineering difficulties Westbury Road in Henleaze will continue to be closed until 27 September whilst Wales & West Utilities completes work to upgrade the gas pipes in the area of Henleaze.
As part of the £675,000 investment project, the gas emergency and pipeline service has been working under a road closure on Westbury Road, between the junctions of Henleaze Road and Henleaze Avenue, but further engineering difficulties means that the closure will to be extended. Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time.
Access will be maintained to the school and retirement village only and other motorists will need to follow the diversion route along Stokes Lane and Parry Lane.
The work is essential to keep the gas flowing safely to heat and power local homes and businesses for years to come.
This work follows that completed by Wales & West Utilities earlier in the year to lay a new gas main in Westbury Road to increase capacity of the network.
Wales & West Utilities Simon Lee is managing this gas pipe upgrade work and said:
