Wales & West Utilities is progressing well with its work to upgrade the gas pipes in the Westbury Road area of Bristol.

As part of the next phase of the £675,000 investment project, the gas emergency and pipeline service has agreed with Bristol City Council that three-way traffic lights will be in place at the junction of Falcondale Road and Stoke Lane, whilst traffic will not be able to turn right into Stoke Lane from Falcondale Road, as the junction will be closed. This traffic management will be in place between 3 – 16 January and motorists are advised to allow additional travel time. After this date, work will continue on Falcondale Road, however traffic management will not be required.

The work is essential to keep the gas flowing safely to heat and power local homes and businesses for years to come.

Wales & West Utilities Simon Lee is managing this gas pipe upgrade work and said:

We are progressing well with this project and would like to thank everyone who lives and travels in the area for their patience whilst we carry out this essential work.

While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across Bristol. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.

We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.

This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport hydrogen and biomethane, so we can all play our part in a green future.
