What we’re looking for?
The purpose of the job is to contribute to a cost effective and customer focused, reliable gas service by carrying out routine and non-routine work across the district as an individual or as a team leader.
The job holder will carry out repairs to our network undertakes all aspects of maintenance, inspection and modification of all plant and equipment associated with the pipeline gas transportation system and third party sites, e.g. LTS & Below 7 bar pipelines, block valves, valves, nitrogen sleeves etc. to maintain the system fit for purpose.
We’ll trust you to:
- Receive instructions and requests, plan and organise resources and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that work is carried out efficiently
- Undertake undertakes all aspects of maintenance, inspection and modification of all plant and equipment associated with the pipeline gas transportation system and third party sites, e.g. LTS & Below 7 bar pipelines, block valves, valves, nitrogen sleeves etc. to maintain the system fit for purpose
- Provide appropriate training, advice, guidance and support to teams/individuals engaged in the operation and maintenance of the gas transportation system
- Work within and promote the philosophy of team working and development across all WWU activities to achieve business objectives and improve performance
- Ensure that the health and safety of themselves and others is not adversely affected by their actions or omissions
- Work various shift patterns which includes weekend and evening work, and participation in a 24/7 standby rota.

You’ll need to have:
- Good practical skills
- Basic engineering principles and skills
- An understanding of on-site health and safety and all aspects of gas safety
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
- Full UK Driving Licence
