Work planned to bring Clevedon gas upgrade to a close
Wales & West Utilities will return to the Walton Road area of Clevedon during half term to finish its project to upgrade gas pipes.
The gas emergency and pipeline service carried out work last year, but this last section is required to complete the project. It has been agreed with North Somerset Council that Walton Road will be closed between the junctions of Tickenham Road and Valley Road (14 – 22 February). A diversion route will be in place and motorists are advised to allow sufficient travel time.
The scheme is vital to ensuring gas continues to flow safely and reliably to homes and businesses across the area - helping to keep people warm for decades to come.
Wales & West Utilities Simon Lee is managing this work and said:
“This final section of work has been planned during the half term break to minimise disruption locally.
“We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.
“While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of this community. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.
“This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport green gases in the future.”
