⚠️ Gas Supply Update – Kingsbridge, Devon

Following damage to our gas main near Kingsbridge, gas supplies remain impacted in the area. Our team worked through the night on a very challenging repair, which has now been successfully completed.

Supporting Vulnerable Customers
We’re continuing to visit customers on the Priority Services Register to provide alternative cooking and heating facilities. If you know someone vulnerable, please check in on them. If you still need assistance, speak to one of our engineers working in the area.

Restoring Supplies
To safely restore gas, we need to visit every property with a gas supply and turn it off at the control valve near the meter. Our engineers have already started this process, and we’ve brought in extra teams to help.
Please make every effort to be home when our engineers call—this will speed up the process. Once all properties are switched off (likely by late afternoon), we’ll begin restoring supplies.
We’ll need to visit each property again to turn the gas back on safely. If you’re not home, we’ll leave a card with details on how to contact us.

Important Safety Information
If you smell gas, call the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999.
Our engineers carry ID badges. You can verify their identity by calling 0800 316 0478.

Thank you for your patience as we work to restore supplies safely. We’ll provide another update later today.

Whitchurch gas works update

Posted: 22/10/2019

Wales & West Utilities Programme Controller for Cardiff, Adam Smith said;

“We will be working in the Merthyr Road area of Whitchurch to upgrade the gas network. This £725,000 investment is essential to keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.

“Our work will start this week (wc 21 October) and barring any unforeseen circumstances will be completed by March 2020.

“After feedback from the local community, we have re-planned our work to keep disruption to local people and local businesses to a minimum. Between now and Christmas, we will be working on residential streets in the area, and work on The Philog and Merthyr Road will be rescheduled after Christmas.

"We know working on roads like these is not ideal, but this work really is essential to keep the gas flowing to heat homes and power businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future and can play its part in delivering reliable and affordable green energy.

“If you have any questions about our work, you can contact our customer services team on freephone 0800 912 2999 or enquiries@wwwutilities.co.uk. Alternatively, you can contact us on Twitter @WWUtilities or Facebook.com/WWUtilities."
