Wales & West Utilities donates essential items to The Wallich in Bridgend

Posted: 03/11/2025

Wales & West Utilities has donated more than £500 worth of essential items to local homelessness charity, The Wallich, in Bridgend.

The donation follows the recent completion of work by the gas emergency and pipeline service along Park Street, where The Wallich’s Bridgend centre is located. Wanting to give something back to the local community, members of the Wales & West Utilities team rallied to purchase and deliver a range of much-needed supplies to support people experiencing homelessness.

Items donated included sleeping bags, deodorant, razors, men’s and women’s underwear, biscuits, crisps, pot noodles, and oats.

Claire Reape, First Line Manager from Wales & West Utilities, said:

"We were carrying out essential work to upgrade the gas pipes in the Park Street area for several weeks and wanted to show our appreciation to The Wallich for the vital support they provide in the community. We hope our donation helps make a small difference to those who need it most."

Louisa Turner, Head of Fundraising at The Wallich, said:

“We’re so grateful for this generous donation from Wales & West Utilities, and we appreciate that they asked what essentials people need as we head into the colder months. Our team supporting people sleeping rough in Bridgend now have more supplies to distribute on their daily rounds, including to those at risk of homelessness who use our drop-in centre.

“At The Wallich, we regularly partner with businesses that want to give back to their communities. This support from Wales & West Utilities helps us provide comfort, dignity and practical help to those who need it most.”
