⚠️ Gas Supply Update – Kingsbridge, Devon

Our teams worked late into the night continuing efforts to restore gas supplies to customers impacted by the damage to our gas main.

This morning, engineers are already out in Kingsbridge, working through the remaining properties to restore supplies.

In Salcombe, commissioning of the gas main last night was successful, and our teams are also already in the area beginning the process of restoring supplies.


Please make every effort to be at your property today—this will greatly help speed up the process of getting homes back on gas.

Upgrading the gas network in Bishopston

Wales & West Utilities is shortly starting work to upgrade the gas pipes in the Kings Drive area of Bishopston.

The project will take place between 3 March – 16 May and has been planned in conjunction with Bristol City Council. The project is essential to keep the gas flowing safely to heat and power local homes and businesses, keeping people warm for generations to come.

The work involves upgrading pipes and it has been agreed that, during the project, sections of Kings Drive will be closed to traffic and motorists are advised to allow extra travel time. All buses using this route will be diverted to the route set by Bristol City Council.

Wales & West Utilities Simon Lee is managing this gas pipe upgrade work and said:

We have worked with the Council to minimise disruption to motorists.

We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future. We’ll have a team of gas engineers on site throughout the final section of this project to make sure our work is completed as safely and as quickly as possible while keeping disruption to a minimum.

While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across the wider area. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.

This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport hydrogen and biomethane, so we can all play our part in a green future.
