Phase two of Clevedon gas project will shortly start
Wales & West Utilities is progressing well with its project to upgrade gas pipes in the Walton Road area of Clevedon.
The gas emergency and pipeline service started the first phase of work in July, and with works progressing well, the second phase is due to start on 26 September. Providing everything goes to plan, the entire project is expected to be complete by 14 November.
The scheme is vital to ensuring gas continues to flow safely and reliably to homes and businesses across the area - helping to keep people warm for decades to come.
The gas emergency and pipeline service continues to work with North Somerset Council to plan the project, and it has been agreed that traffic management will be in place between 26 September – 14 November, which includes:
- A closure on Walton Road, between Tickenham Road and Valley Road
- Traffic lights on Walton Road, between its junctions with Valley Road and Holly Lane
Wales & West Utilities Simon Lee is managing this work and said:

“We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.

Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.
“This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport green gases in the future.”
