Nantgarw Road gas upgrade finishes ahead of schedule

Posted: 04/11/2025

Wales & West Utilities has finished its essential work to upgrade gas pipes in Nantgarw Road and Crescent Road in Caerphilly, ahead of schedule.

The work began in September and was vital to ensuring gas continues to flow safely and reliably to homes and businesses across the area, helping to keep people warm for decades to come. The gas emergency and pipeline service liaised with Caerphilly County Borough Council to plan the project, and Nantgarw Road was closed throughout.

Wales & West Utilities Andrew Coleman managed the upgrade work and said:

“We’d like to thank the local community for bearing with us whilst we completed this essential work.

While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across the area. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner, or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.

“This work was essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport green gases in the future.”

Wales & West Utilities is the gas emergency and pipeline service, delivering energy to over 7.5 million people across Wales and the south west of England. We don’t sell gas; we transport it through an extensive underground network of more than 35,000 kilometres of pipes.
