Gas upgrade works progress in Stoke Sub Hamdon
Wales & West Utilities is making good progress on its gas pipe upgrade programme in Stoke Sub Hamdon.
The project, which began last month, forms part a £170,000 investment the company is making in upgrading gas pipes across the area. This essential work will help ensure gas continues to flow safely and reliably to local homes and businesses, keeping people warm for generations to come.
As part of the next section of work, between 16 – 22 February, there will be a closure on Castle Street, at its junction with North Street, where they will be no access into Castle Street, off North Street, and out of Castle Street onto North Street. The overall project is on track to finish in mid-April.
Roxanne Whittaker, who is managing the works for Wales & West Utilities, said:
“We are making good progress with this project, and have worked with Somerset Council to plan this specific during the half term break, to minimise disruption to the local community.
“While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a vital role in everyday life across the area. From heating homes and cooking family meals to enjoying a hot bath, we understand how important it is that gas supplies remain safe, reliable and available when needed.
“Our team of gas engineers will be on site throughout the project to ensure the work is completed as safely and quickly as possible, while keeping disruption to a minimum.”
