Gas upgrade work to start in Looe
Wales & West Utilities is shortly starting a project to upgrade part of the gas network in Looe.
The works in the Polperro Road area of the town commence on 8 September and, barring any engineering difficulties, are expected to be completed by 5 December. They are essential to keep the gas flowing safely to heat and power local homes and businesses, keeping people warm for generations.
As part of the works, the gas emergency and pipeline service has liaised with Cornwall Council, and it has been agreed that traffic management will be in place throughout, which includes:
- Rolling traffic lights along Polperro Road (8 September – 5 December)
- A road closure on North Road, between the junctions of Polperro Road and the entrance of Polvellan Terrace (opposite Westwood Bridgend (10 November – 5 December)

We’ll have a team of gas engineers on site throughout the project to make sure our work is completed as safely and as quickly as possible while keeping disruption to a minimum.”
