Gas upgrade work extends to replace further pipes in Tiverton
Wales & West Utilities is extending its project to upgrade a further 154 metres of pipework in the Barrington Street area of Tiverton.
The gas emergency and pipeline service started the project at the end of July, and after finishing the initial work ahead of schedule, it has been agreed to replace further pipework in the town.
The work is vital to ensuring gas continues to flow safely and reliably to homes and businesses across the area - helping to keep people warm for decades to come. Providing everything goes to plan, this work will be complete by mid-November.
As part of the works, the gas emergency and pipeline service has liaised with both Devon County Council and Tiverton Town Council, and Barrington Street remains closed between William Street and Water Lane until 7 November

“We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.
“While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of this community. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.
“This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport green gases in the future.”
