⚠️ Gas Supply Update – Kingsbridge, Devon

Following damage to our gas main near Kingsbridge, gas supplies remain impacted in the area. Our team worked through the night on a very challenging repair, which has now been successfully completed.

Supporting Vulnerable Customers
We’re continuing to visit customers on the Priority Services Register to provide alternative cooking and heating facilities. If you know someone vulnerable, please check in on them. If you still need assistance, speak to one of our engineers working in the area.

Restoring Supplies
To safely restore gas, we need to visit every property with a gas supply and turn it off at the control valve near the meter. Our engineers have already started this process, and we’ve brought in extra teams to help.
Please make every effort to be home when our engineers call—this will speed up the process. Once all properties are switched off (likely by late afternoon), we’ll begin restoring supplies.
We’ll need to visit each property again to turn the gas back on safely. If you’re not home, we’ll leave a card with details on how to contact us.

Important Safety Information
If you smell gas, call the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999.
Our engineers carry ID badges. You can verify their identity by calling 0800 316 0478.

Thank you for your patience as we work to restore supplies safely. We’ll provide another update later today.

Dinas Powys gas pipe upgrade to begin

Posted: 06/01/2021

Wales & West Utilities is to carry out essential gas pipe upgrade in the Station Road area of Dinas Powys.

It will take place between 14 January – 14 February and will keep the gas flowing to heat homes and power businesses so local people are kept safe and warm for generations to come.

In planning the work, the gas emergency and pipeline service has worked closely with Vale of Glamorgan Council and it has been agreed that throughout the scheme four-way traffic lights will be in place on Highwalls Road, at its junction with The Square and Britway Court.

We know that working on roads like this is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future. We’ll be working as safely and as quickly as possible to make sure the work is completed in a timely fashion, while keeping inconvenience to a minimum for local people and road users.

Our engineers are following all hygiene and social distancing guidelines and we would respectfully ask that you keep a 2m distance if passing our work site.

To power a green recovery from coronavirus, we’ll be working hard to keep the gas flowing safely today and to prepare the gas network to transport green gases, like biomethane and hydrogen, so it can play its part delivering green, sustainable energy in the future.
