‘Crack the COde’ and raise awareness of carbon monoxide poisoning!

With carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning claiming around 40 lives each year in the UK, gas emergency and pipeline service Wales & West Utilities is inviting people across Wales and the south west of England to ‘Crack the COde’ and help raise awareness of CO – known as the ‘silent killer’.
Each year the company educates and protects people across their region against CO poisoning and their latest initiative is ‘Crack the COde’ – an online game aimed at raising the awareness of CO. Starring the COdebreakers, it is aimed at people of all ages, and those who ‘Crack the COde’ are urged to share the important information with their families and loved ones.
Featuring COdebreaker characters, Chloe and Ben, ‘Crack the COde’ challenges people to answer five questions related to CO safety. Each correct answer reveals a letter and when all five letters are revealed, users have to rearrange them in order to reveal the ‘COde’ which they’ll use to unlock the vault.
By completing the feedback form which follows, users will get a letter from the COdebreakers, a COdebreaker-themed prize and chance to win an iPad in a quarterly prize draw. It also invites users to share vital CO-safety information with their friends and family through their social media channels to make sure others stay protected.

“Each year across the UK not only are people dying unnecessarily but 200 people are hospitalised and 4,000 more attend Accident & Emergency Departments as a result of CO poisoning.
“It’s incredibly dangerous because you can’t see it, smell it or taste it. Our COdebreakers aim to raise the awareness of CO with people across our network so that they have all the vital information they need to keep their loved ones safe. We want as many people as possible to ‘Crack the COde’ to help get them clued up on the dangers of CO.”
