⚠️ Gas Supply Update – Kingsbridge, Devon

Our teams worked late into the night continuing efforts to restore gas supplies to customers impacted by the damage to our gas main.

This morning, engineers are already out in Kingsbridge, working through the remaining properties to restore supplies.

In Salcombe, commissioning of the gas main last night was successful, and our teams are also already in the area beginning the process of restoring supplies.

£12.3 million invested in South East Wales’ gas network

Gas emergency and pipeline service, Wales & West Utilities, has announced that last year it invested more than £12.3 million to upgrade the gas network across the South East Wales region.

The work involved upgrading over 95 kilometres of old metal pipes to new long-lasting plastic pipes and upgrading more than 7,000 individual service pipes that supply homes and businesses. This essential work will keep the gas flowing and prepare the gas network for the future.

Francis Kirk, Wales & West Utilities Programme Controller for the area, said: 

“My team are working hard to upgrade old metal gas pipes to new plastic ones across the region – essential to keep the gas flowing to heat homes and power businesses in the area and keep local families safe and warm for generations to come.

“Every year across Wales and the south west of England we replace 400km of pipe.  We know our work can be disruptive, but we really appreciate the support of local people as we do our work –keeping the gas flowing and preparing the gas network for the future.”
