Boosting with biomethane
With enough capacity to supply the annual demand over 160,000 homes; the biomethane sites connected to our networks are the unsung hero of clean energy boosting our net zero efforts.

The biomethane we use in our network is produced by the anaerobic digestion of materials like food waste, crops and animal waste. The biogas is then upgraded into biomethane. After rigorous gas-quality checks, it’s ready to enter the gas network.
Biomethane works very similar to the natural gas you have in your home now, and customers don't notice any difference.

We want to increase the number of biomethane producers connected to our network. If you're interested in connecting, please complete our initial enquiry form. Our experienced team will be in touch with the next steps to assess how we can help. This process normally takes 15 days, and is free of charge.
Blending biomethane
We are currently supporting a customer with plans to install the first blending tee on our network, designed to reduce the amount of propane needed to enrich the biomethane to industry standards.
Supporting hub facilities
Our first hub facility at an existing biomethane entry site is helping increase biomethane use. As well as the anaerobic digestion facility on site, there are ports to accept tankered biomethane from other local farms and producers.
Reverse Compression
We're increasing the amount of biomethane being injected into our network using Reverse Compression, particularly during periods of low seasonal demand.
Smart Pressure Control
Our Smart Pressure Control trials allow operators to remotely monitor and control the network, increasing the amount of biomethane in our network.
