What we’re looking for?
The Mechanical Craftsperson undertakes all aspects of maintenance, inspection and modification of all plant and equipment associated with the gas transportation systems and third-party sites, e.g. high, intermediate and low-pressure regulator and valve installations, to ensure all sites and equipment are compliant with their respective regulations and are fit for purpose.
The job holder will carry out maintenance, repairs and project work to the network undertaking all aspects of maintenance, inspection and modification of all plant and equipment associated with the WWU gas transportation system and third-party systems, e.g. Local Transmission System (LTS), Above & Below 7 bar AGI/PRS/DG.
We’ll trust you to:
- Receive instructions and requests, plan and organise resources and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that work is carried out efficiently.
- Commission, decommission and maintain pipework, associated plant and equipment; this may involve non-routine work and/or appropriate specialist knowledge.
- Undertake all aspects of maintenance, inspection and modification of all plant and equipment associated with the pipeline gas transportation system and third-party sites.
- Respond to emergencies, participate in standby and undertake testing, survey, detection and diagnostic work which may be of a non-routine nature, reporting results, ensuring safety and taking appropriate action in order to maintain the transportation system and associated equipment.
- Provide appropriate training, advice, guidance and support to teams/individuals engaged in the operation and maintenance of the gas transportation system.
- Assist in gathering information and preparing reports which may include participation in the preparation of technical information.

You’ll need to have:
- Qualified or working towards being a Competent Network Services Craftsperson and/or NVQ3 equivalent.
- Full UK Driver’s License
- Vehicle Marshalling
- VS02 training
- Network Services 20 Weeks Technical Training or previous Equivalent
- Compex Foundation Plus
- Modular Boiler Maintenance
- TEM 2 & TEM 4
- SCO 1,2,3 &5 CORE/PTW/FOA & NRO Competent Person
