Mumbles Road, Swansea gas pipe upgrade

Wales & West Utilities is carrying out essential work to replace a section of gas pipe in the Mumbles Road area of Swansea.
The upgrade work is vital to ensuring gas continues to flow safely and reliably to homes and businesses across the area - helping to keep people warm for decades to come. Providing everything goes to plan, the project is expected to be completed by 19 October.
Wales & West Utilities has worked closely with Swansea Council, and it has been agreed that a lane closure will be in place along Mumbles Road, at its junction with Brynmill Lane. During this time, traffic will not be able to turn left from Brynmill Lane onto Mumbles Road, nor turn left from the Swansea direction into Brynmill Lane. This is to ensure our team and local motorists stay safe while the work is taking place.
Wales & West Utilities' Adam Smith is managing this work and said:
“We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.
“We’re working as safely and as quickly as we can, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, we expect to complete our work and reopen the road by 19 October.
“While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of this community. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.
“This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport green gases in the future.”
