Vulnerability and Carbon Monoxide Allowance

Targeted Support for the Most Vulnerable

Between April 2026 and March 2031, we have £19.2 million to invest in projects that support customers in vulnerable situations and raise awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide.

It’s called the Vulnerability and Carbon Monoxide Allowance, and this funding forms part of our Vulnerability and Carbon Monoxide Initiatives (VCMI) programme. Of the total funding:

  • 72% will be invested in projects within our network area
  • At least 25% will support collaborative projects with the other gas networks in England and Scotland
  • A minimum of 3% is ring-fenced for cross-utilities initiatives, working in collaboration with organisations such as electricity, water, and telecommunications providers

If you have a project idea that you would like to share with us—either independently or in partnership with others—we would love to hear from you.

To discuss your idea, or if you have any questions about VCMA funding, please contact us at VCMA@wwutilities.co.uk.

Working Together

By working in partnership, we can provide tailored support services for the most vulnerable communities across our network.
