Essential gas works progressing well in Brimscombe
Posted: 25/11/2025

Wales & West Utilities is progressing well with its work to upgrade the gas pipes in the London Road area of Brimscombe.

The essential gas mains upgrade project began at the end of October and is on track to finish by 16 January next year.

Wales & West Utilities is working closely with Gloucestershire County Council to ensure the work can progress as quickly and safely as possible, and it has been agreed that multi-way traffic lights will be in place on London Road throughout the project.

Wales & West Utilities' Mick Gallavin is managing the work and said:

“We are making good progress with this project and are on track to finish it by 16 January.

“While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of this community. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.

“We have planned this project with the local council to minimise disruption as much as possible, but appreciate that works like this will have an impact on the local community. This work is essential, however, to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport green gases in the future.”
