Wales & West Utilities is progressing well with its work to upgrade the gas pipes in the Abergele area.

The gas emergency and pipeline service continues to liaise closely with Conwy County Borough Council to plan the work and it has been agreed that a temporary road closure will be in place on A547 Bridge Street, between the junctions of Plas Newydd and Llys Gate, from 23 October to 1 November. A clearly signposted diversion route will be in place to help minimise disruption, and access will be maintained, where possible. Motorists are advised to allow sufficient travel time.

From 2 November, the road closure will be removed, and work will continue under temporary traffic lights, which will be in place until 20 November.

The work is vital to ensuring gas continues to flow safely and reliably to homes and businesses across the area - helping to keep people warm for decades to come.

Wales & West Utilities Adam Smith is managing this work and said:

“We have planned this work to take place during half term to minimise disruption to motorists.

"We ask motorists to strictly follow the traffic management signage to keep the traffic flowing, and our colleagues safe as they complete this work.

“We understand our work can cause disruption, but it is essential to maintain a resilient gas network that households and business can rely on every day. While much of the gas network is out of sight, it plays a vital role in daily life – from heating homes to cooking meals and we know how important it is that gas is there when people need it.”
