Wales & West Utilities says ‘bye’ to Braunton

Wales & West Utilities engineers are saying ‘bye’ to Braunton after completing a project to upgrade the gas pipes in the Heanton Street area of the town.

Engineers have been working in the town since the end of September, and now that it’s complete, it will ensure gas continues to flow safely and reliably to homes and businesses across the area, helping to keep people warm for decades to come. The gas emergency and pipeline service liaised with Devon County Council, and traffic management was in place throughout.

Wales & West Utilities' Roxanne Whittaker managed the upgrade work and said:

“We would like to thank the local community for bearing with us whilst we completed this essential work. In planning the project, we worked in partnership with Devon County Council, and traffic management was in place throughout.

While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across the area. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner, or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.

“This work was essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport green gases in the future.”

Wales & West Utilities is the gas emergency and pipeline service, delivering energy to over 7.5 million people across Wales and the south west of England. We don’t sell gas; we transport it through an extensive underground network of more than 35,000 kilometres of pipes.

If you smell gas or suspect carbon monoxide, call the National Gas Emergency number on 0800 111 999 immediately. Trained engineers are available 24/7 to respond and keep you safe.
