Essential gas pipe upgrade work along Teignmouth Road in Torquay has come to an end earlier than anticipated.

The work to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses in the area has been ongoing for a few weeks and has involved Wales & West Utilities engineers working to upgrade old metal gas pipe to new long-lasting ones.

Wales & West Utilities Roxanne Whittaker managed the work and said:

“We’re delighted to have finished this upgrade work earlier than planned and want to thank everyone who lives, works and travels along Teignmouth Road for bearing with us while we did this essential work.

“While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across Torquay and the surrounding areas. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.

“This work will not only keep the gas flowing safely and reliably today, it will also help make sure the gas network is fit for the future and can play its part in delivering reliable and affordable green energy.”
