A donation from Wales & West Utilities has allowed Ebbw Vale RFC to broaden its youth section and establish an under 12’s team.
The gas emergency and pipeline service has sponsored the team after one of its engineers, David Mochan, who also coaches the side, approached them for support.
The establishment of the team comes after the demise of Ebbw Vale RTB last year, where David was coaching. With young players, coaches and families not keen for the final whistle to be blown on the sport, they sought to join the existing club and established an under 12’s side in the process.
David explains:
“Our young players are passionate about the game and, so, when the club folded, they were distraught. Thankfully Ebbw Vale RFC were keen for us to join and we have been playing together as a team since the beginning of the season.
“Sadly, we didn’t have kit or sponsorship, but knowing much my employer, Wales & West Utilities, is committed to supporting local community initiatives, I thought I’d put in a request.”
The side received £300 from Wales & West Utilities as part of its continued investment in the communities which it serves.
David continued:
“On behalf of everyone at the club I’d like to say thank you to Wales & West Utilities for supporting our community team. We are looking forward to proudly wearing their logo during training and matches.”
