Wales & West Utilities is to carry out essential work to upgrade 1.2 kilometres of gas pipes in Brixham.
It will take place between 29 January – 19 March and is essential to keep the gas flowing to heat homes and power businesses so local people are kept safe and warm for generations to come.
In planning the work, the gas emergency and pipeline service has liaised with Torbay Council and it has been agreed that traffic management will be in place whilst work is ongoing.
This will include temporary traffic lights on Brixham Road and Dartmouth Road between 29 January - 5 March. A road closure on Bridge Road will also be in place between 22 February – 19 March. A diversion route, along Bascombe Road and Dartmouth Road, will be clearly signposted during this time.
We know that working on roads like this is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future. We’ll be working as safely and as quickly as possible to make sure the work is completed in a timely fashion, while keeping inconvenience to a minimum for local people and road users.
Our engineers are following all hygiene and social distancing guidelines and we would respectfully ask that you keep a 2m distance if passing our work site.
