Interruption to gas supplies in Langstone
Interruption to gas supplies, Langstone
Steve Williams Wales & West Utilities Gas Emergency Service Manager for Newport said:
We’re very sorry that the gas supply has been interrupted to a number of homes in the Langstone area of Newport. This was caused by water entering the gas network. Our engineers are working to get the gas flowing to homes again safely.
“We will need to visit all affected homes to turn their gas supplies off. Once we have pumped all the water out of the gas network, we will visit each home again to safely turn their gas back on and relight their gas appliances. All our engineers will be carrying identification.
“When our engineers visit your home, they’ll be taking precautions to protect against Coronavirus. This includes:
- Washing their hands with soap and water or using hand sanitiser before entering.
- While in your home, they will wear face coverings and eye protection, and may ask you to open windows and stand in another room while they are working.
“We’ll be working around the clock to get the gas flowing again as safely and as quickly as possible.
“We’re giving alternative heating and cooking facilities to the most vulnerable people in the area. If anyone needs assistance or knows of a neighbour, relative or friend who may, please let us know - our Customer Service Team is ready to take your call. You can contact us on 0800 912 2999 or by enquiries@wwutilities.co.uk. Alternatively, you can contact us on Twitter @WWUtilities or Facebook.com/wwutilities.
“We’re sorry for the disruption, and we would like to thank local people in Newport for bearing with us while we work to get the gas flowing again.”
