Wales & West Utilities is set to start the final phase of its gas pipe investment work in Yatton which will make sure that local homes and businesses continue to receive a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.

Starting on 24 July, the work will involve upgrading 300m of old metal pipes to new plastic ones on North End Road. The company anticipates this work will take six weeks to complete.

Wales & West Utilities, which has been working on the £600,000 gas pipe investment scheme since November 2016, has worked closely with North Somerset Council in planning the work to keep disruption to the local community and local road users to a minimum.

Throughout the six weeks of work, two and three-way traffic lights will be in place and parking will be suspended on High Street, from the junction of Heathgate to Grassmere Road, and on Kenn Moor Road from the junction of High Street to the entrance of the Market Industrial Estate. This parking suspension will be in place to make sure the traffic keeps flowing and the project can be completed as quickly as possible.

Wales & West Utilities Programme Controller for the area, Barry Sale, is managing the work and said:

“Our work in Yatton is essential to keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.

“Having worked closely with North Somerset Council to plan the safest way to complete the work, we hope the traffic lights will allow us to complete the scheme with minimal disruption so that we can complete as quickly as possible.

“Working in areas like this is never easy but we will work as safely and as quickly as possible to make sure that we get the job finished with minimal disruption for local people.”
